Why loyal Yahoo mail users switched to other email providers

Yahoo was one of the hottest business couple of years back. They had a great frontend, paid services for extra storage and tons of small business tools. As business grows they lost focus on their core business. Overt the time, spam increased exponentially, yahoo messenger was screaming of spam links all the time, spammers used yahoo messenger to infect unsecured windows systems and small business changed valid users with fraud credit card charges for business they never had.

As hacker because were more sophisticated than ever, targeted attacks on financial applications, stealing users information because more easier than ever. Inbox was filled with more spam than actual emails. User were left with no option than to switch to another reliable service. Parallel on the other side msn messenger was not that great. As always Microsoft’s weak security haunted spams the same way yahoo was infected. Yahoo even got hacked the same time.

When all this mess was going on, Google’s email was a hot buzz in the market. It had a very appealing and simpler interface. All in white. People dumped their spam boxes ( yahoo & Hotmail) to Gmail overnight. Less Spam and more emails/storage. Adding to that Google released their gtalk ( 2006- 2007)) which was the talk of town at that time. A simple light weight was faster, easier and did all the job the heavy duty Yahoo Messenger & msn messenger did. Within a year Google took over the spam machines and hosted their flag.

That was the end of Yahoomail ! Even as of today, spam continues to spread and there is no control over how email attachments is being sent on Yahoo email.
